Seattle, WA- The Obama For America campaign will host an office opening ceremony for members of the community and the local media on Saturday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. Located on the 3rd floor of the Howard Building at

614 First Avenue in Pioneer Square, the office will serve as a home base for Obama supporters in Washington state to continue building grassroots support leading up to the February 9th caucuses.

Peter Masundire, media and communications director for Washington For Obama, a grassroots group that has coordinated statewide support for Obama since he announced his candidacy last February said that, by appointing a state director and opening this office,  the Obama campaign plans to compete for every vote and is building a national campaign infrastructure including here in Washington state.  “By investing in Washington state, Senator Obama wants all Washingtonians to know that our voices matter and that he appreciates the role we will play in determining who the Democratic Party nominee for the presidency will be” Masundire said.

“Senator Obama is the best candidate in this race that can unite our country and bring real change for America” said U.S. Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), acting co-chairman of the Obama For America campaign in Washington state who will conduct the ribbon cutting ceremony.  “The momentum we have seen so far shows that Americans are excited about Obama’s message of hope, and nowhere is that more true than in Washington state.  We are very excited to see the beginning of this next phase of the campaign.  Our volunteers are energized and ready to do their part to make sure Senator Obama wins Washington’s upcoming primary.” he continued.

The event, which marks the transition of the office from a grassroots organizing center to an official campaign office commences at 11:00 am but supporters are encouraged to arrive around 10:30 am.

This event is open to the press.  Media interested in covering the event should email Peter Masundiré at

    Hi there,

I have been upset to hear the polling numbers that are all over the news. These numbers are not taking into account the youth vote because their sampling relies on landline phonecalls. Most young people use cell phones. It seems the media is trying to influence voting by inflating McCain’s standing, and possibly disaffect young Obama voters. Is the campaign planning to address the distortion of the polls?
