As I noted earlier this week, some of Barack Obama’s comments have been inciting fury among labor leaders and Democrats online, especially now that’s he’s increasingly taking aim at John Edwards, whose class-warrior message resonates with the party’s hyper-partisans. The latest sniping on the blogs centered Mr. Obama’s suggestion that Democrats needed to nominate someone whom half the country wouldn’t immediately reject, which, according to Mr. Obama, is what they did in 2000 and again in 2004. This comment wasn’t significantly different from the electability argument that most of the Democrats have made at one time or another, but Mr. Obama’s specific reference to Al Gore and John Kerry was enough to renew dubious allegations that Mr. Obama was, once again, sounding more like a Republican than a Democrat. …
